Stick Licker in the Flowers is a wall-mounted sculpture depicting a muscular classical figure draped in loose fabric — and licking a long, gnarled stick. From the stick blooms a single red flower, glowing from within, casting a soft blush of light across the figure’s face.
The figure is surrounded by an illuminated wreath of blown-glass flowers in pale blush and crystal, their LED-lit forms casting a soft luminous glow against the wall.
The work belongs to Teemu Salonen’s ongoing sculptural practice, where classical references collide with deadpan humour and decorative excess. The same figure appears across several works in the series, each time caught in a new act of quiet transgression.
White and luminous in finish, the sculpture reads differently from every angle — monumental from a distance, absurd and intimate up close.
One of a kind.
