Licking leaves in the Garden invites the viewer into a moment of quiet absurdity. A male figure stands before a mirror, eyes closed, tongue pressed against the surface of a large tropical leaf — unaware of being watched, or perhaps indifferent to it. The mirror reflects without revealing; the gesture means nothing and everything.
Crafted from biopolymer (PLA), polyester resin, paint, and mirror, the work embraces kitsch as a serious aesthetic language — lush, excessive, and unapologetically decorative. Artificial flowers bloom in candy colours around the figure, collapsing the boundary between garden and interior, nature and artifice.
