Chinese Restaurant 32 is a unique wall sculpture in which clusters of hand-finished flowers emerge from the wall as if caught mid-breath. Finished in soft blush, white and iridescent pearl, the petals carry an inner luminosity — lit from within, they cast a warm, otherworldly glow that dissolves the boundary between object and atmosphere.
The work belongs to Teemu Salonen's ongoing Chinese Restaurant series, a meditation on ornament, memory, and the charged aesthetics of interior spaces. Each piece in the series is singular and never repeated.
Chinese Restaurant 32 is conceived as both sculpture and light source — a presence that changes with the hour, casting warm shadows at dusk and holding cool stillness in daylight.
The sculpture is fitted with a white braided textile cord and an inline switch, compatible with standard EU outlets. The cord can be concealed within the wall or left visible as a considered design detail.
